I saw this recipe in the coupon section of the Sunday paper one week and wanted to try it. It makes a lot so I decreased it to 1 lb of meat and still have leftovers for another meal. I used ketchup because I was out of BBQ sauce; the mustard was a little too tangy for me (I am not a big fan of mustard) so I added 1 Tbs of brown sugar to sweeten it up a little. I will try with BBQ sauce and see if that offsets the mustard since it is sweeter than ketchup. These little sloppy joes were great and got a thumbs up all around! Made for Spring PAC 2013.

Great sloppy joe recipe. The barbecue sauce adds just a touch of sweetness, but not overly sweet like a lot of sloppy joe recipes. This makes a lot, so I used 1/3 of the amount and then froze the rest for future use. I made this as regular-size sloppy joes, but look forward to making the slider size in the future with some of the remainder in the freezer.

My SO and I live in a rural area in Virginia with one dog and 3 cats. SO has a greenhouse and grows a large garden so we always have tons of fresh veggies in the spring and summer. We can and freeze some but enjoy many of them fresh straight from the garden. There is nothing I like better than being in the kitchen with a new recipe to try. My goal is at least one new one every weekend. It's the perfect relaxation after a long week at work.
