Delicious Scrambled Tofu
"I adapted this from a friend's recipe. My family requests this a lot for breakfast. Tastes great on toast or by itself. I LOVE avocado and find it tastes great sliced on toast with the scrambled tofu."

ingredients
- 1 lb firm tofu
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (I use the healthier BRAGG liquid aminos)
- 1 tablespoon onion powder or 2 green onions, chopped
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 tablespoon italian seasoning
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 -2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon canned green chilies (optional) or 2 tablespoons dried green pimientos (optional)
- black salt, to taste (this sulferic salt is optional but makes a huge difference in making the tofu taste more like eggs,)
directions
- Crumble tofu with hands.
- In a skillet mix tofu and everything except the tomatoes together well. Heat for 5 to 8 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and then continue heating until thoroughly heated (about 5 to 8 minutes more.

This is super tasty!! I enjoyed it with a bit of salsa on the side because I was in a hurry. Next time I'll try it with some more veggies and a little less salt. Thanks for a great recipe! -
This was pretty good. I feel like it was missing something, but I'm not sure what, and my boyfriend was impressed that it tasted like eggs. I think it would've been better on toast. -
Wonderful! Like others, I didn't have black salt, but it was still absolutely delicious. This will be a breakfast favorite in our house! -
Easy to make and delicious. I prepared step one in a bowl and when it was time to cooked the recipe (about one hour later), I just followed the next step. I used green onions and a little red chilli but otherwise kept to the recipe. The tofu really was yummy, served it on a bread of toast, with sliced avocado and dash of sriracha sauce, delicious! I didn't have any tomatoes, green chilies, pimientos or black salt, but it was still delicious. My husband loved it too. Can't wait to try it with all the ingredients next time. Bet it will be even yummier.

Update: We've moved back to the states, and are experiencing the joys of living in Wenatchee, WA for the first time! I'm spending most of my time in the kitchen canning, freezing, and drying fruit now and loving it!
We are a couple, Jason and Mollie, that loves to cook together. We have two wonderful DD's, Enjoli (9) and Emily (7) that make life so much more fun! I, Mollie, studied Nutrition so I try to make most of our meals healthy while still tasting great! Our girls love helping us cook...and eat! We're vegetarian and love eating healthy without missing any flavor! We try to eat mostly vegan, so we have many vegan recipes posted. We are world traveling missionaries and students that have visited many countries and have lived in the States, South Korea, and are currently in the Philippines. So we always need to adjust our menu based on the food available. Zaar has been a tremendous help!
