Cajun Sauteed Shrimp

"Many Cajun shrimp dishes have loads of butter. This is a very tasty version that is much lower in fat. You won't miss it. Serve with French bread and a salad. Fabulous dinner on the table in less than 15 minutes."

Reviews

  1. this dish was awesome! i used pre-cooked shrimp and it came out pretty tasty. it had lots of liquid so i just threw in some spaghetti noodles and it soaked up all the juices. i'm going to make this once a week.

  2. These have a flavor that is similar to blackened seasonings. However, it is much healthier by not cooking with so much butter. The flavor sears with the shrimp and is just outstanding! Thanks!

  3. Excellent!I've even made this in a vegetable basket on the Barbecue

  4. I live in Louisiana and you can not call this dish Cajun. It was tasty, but in order to make it taste Cajun you have to add A LOT more seasoning. I had to double the cayenne, garlic and add more salt.

  5. Very yummy- we did these last night with some scallops as well and it all turned out nicely. Spicy, messy, smelled good, tasted better.

Tweaks

  1. Made this for a snack last night and they were gone within 15 minutes! I used frozen/thawed shrimp and had a litle bit of liquid but it seemed to put a glaze on the shrimp and was wonderful. I added pepper flakes instead of cayenne which turned out great. Just the right amount of heat that kept you going back for another bite. I'm going to try this with chicken so my DH can enjoy the flavors, he hates shrimp! This is a very quick and flavorful recipe. Thank you for sharing.

  2. This is fabulous. Very quick and easy to prepare. I made as directed, but added a jar of 4 cheese alfredo sauce and served over linguini. I also cooked in 1-1/2 T butter instead of oil. Topped with fresh shaved parmesan cheese and served with a salad and garlic bread. My family devoured it.

  3. Delicious! I am doing weight watchers so I modified it to fit into my plan. I used 1 lb instead of 1 1/2 lbs of shrimp and I used cooking spray instead of vegetable oil. I ate 1/2 of the recipe which was 5 points on the PointsPlus system. Next time I'll add more cayenne because I like my food spicy. Thanks for sharing this healthy and easy recipe :-)

  4. AWESOME. And fast. I followed the recipe as-is although I upped the cayenne pepper to twice that amount to give it some more kick. Also, I cooked with olive oil instead of vegetable oil--it was great stuff! I'd order this at a restaurant a second time, for sure. JUST the right amount of spice.

  5. Great flavor, ridiculously simple. I used pre-cooked frozen shrimp, thawed under cool running water, and used olive oil instead of vegetable oil. Went with some fresh-baked Italian bread, dipped in olive oil with essence herb seasoning, and steamed broccoli and green peppers. Will definitely be making this again.
