Homemade BBQ Baked Pork Chops

"This is one of my husband's most favorite main dishes. It is fall-off-the-bone tender and is easy to prepare and as delicious as it looks. Especially good served over steamed rice."

  1. I just made these chops. My husband and I loved them. We substituted spicy ketchup for regular and they were awesome. A definite 'make again'!I had cut down the portion size to 2 and they were ready in 1 hour and 20 minutes.

  2. You have my vote, Sharlene-W! This is a winner! Super-duper easy to put together, and the taste is Heavenly. We really enjoyed. I followed your directions right down the line. I see no reason to change anything. Thanks a bunch for sharing. Laudee C.

  3. very easy and fast. I used dark mustard instead of yellow and it gave it a little more of a kick

  4. What a great dish. Added a little of tabasco sauce. Definitely a keeper. My two year old ate at much as I did.

  5. Very good. Have used this recipe twice; once with chops, once with chicken thighs. Vinegar on hand was balsamic, and couldn't help but to toss in sliced onions.

Tweaks

  1. Add sliced onion on bottom of pan ... last 20 mins set oven temp at 425. Excellent recipe.

  2. I followed the recipe except I used bbq sauce instead of Ketchup. My husband is not a big fan of it. I also added cayenne pepper, since he like his food a little spicy. Making right now, but having it marinade 1st in the sauce before cooking it. Thanks Ladies

  3. I read several reviews of the this recipe that said the flavor was not what they expected and the sauce was runny. I simply substituted BBQ sauce for the ketchup. That help very much with the flavor and took care of the "runny sauce" complaint. Sometimes you have to add your own twist to a recipe to get it to your liking.

  4. Loved, loved, loved this recipe. My husband doesn't even like ketchup cooked on anything and he ate two pork chops. This is very easy and so good. My only wish that I would have reduced the water to 1/2 cup because the sauce had lost alot of its flavor after cooking. Next time I will try chili sauce instead of ketchup. But the recipe is great as is. Oh, I did use creamy dijon mustard because it's all I had.

I live in the San Francisco area and love it here. I discovered Recipezaar (then Food.com..Genius Kitchen) in 2001 and have been so happy to have my favorite recipes stored safely here. I am mother to 7 and grandmother to 7. I love to knit, smock, sew, etc., but my favorite hobby of the moment is traditional rug hooking. This is a sample of what I do.? It's called "November".? I dyed most of the wool myself. It is made from wool flannel, cut into strips a little less than 1/4" and then worked into a linen backing. This is my 3rd rug.
